Musee des Beaux-Arts

The "Musee des Beaux-Arts" was established in the former summer house of a Ukrainian princess in 1928. Paintings of Gustave-Adolphe Mossa, Raoul Dufy, Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley and sculptures of Rodin make the visit of this beautiful art museum unforgettable.

Museé Matisse

Henri Matisse came from Northern France and studied in Paris at the Julian art school. In 1917 the 48-year-old painter moved to Nice. The museum with over 140 works by the artist, is located in a palace of 1685.

Musee Marc Chagall

The "Chagall Museum" is set in a Mediterranean garden with olive trees and cypresses. In 1949 the Russian artist moved to the vicinity of Nice, where he worked and lived until 1985.

Musee des Arts Asiatiques

The "Museum of Asian Art" is located in the west of the Promenade des Anglais. The museum shows works from China, Japan, India and other South-East Asian countries. Another focus of the collection, are Buddhist objects.

Musee Picasso

Pablo Picasso used the former Grimaldi castle in Antibes as studio in 1946 and lived from that on manly at the Côte d'Azur. The museum shows works of the great artist. Other Picasso museums are located in Barcelona and Paris.

Fondation Maeght

The "Fondation Maeght" is located about 25 km from Nice, on the slopes of Saint-Paul de Vence. The museum has a superb collection of modern art with a beautiful sculpture garden.

Musee Jean Cocteau

Jean Cocteau was a French poet of Surrealism and lived in Paris, but he was often in Menton. In 2008 the museum designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti was opened.

Musee Oceanographique

The Marine Museum in Monaco was opened in 1910 and shows the entire spectrum of oceans. Contemporary exhibitions and many aquariums make the museum a very interesting tourist destination.
