The "Palace of Winds" was built in 1799 by Sawai Pratap Singh. Projecting latticed balconies were the harem ladies could see the bustling market on the street, without being seen themselves. The Hawa Mahal is the most famous building in Jaipur.

Hawa Mahal Bazaar

The city palace was built in 1732 for the Maharaja of Jaipur. The palace is now a museum but is still used in parts as a royal residence. The Palace offers luxurious splendor, but from the outside it looks rather modest.

City Palace

The Jantar Mantar is an old astronomical complex, built by Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734. It is the largest of 5 observatories built under his rule. The Jantar Mantar in Delhi is one of the other observatories. The area looks like a giant sculpture park.

Chandni Chowk

Ishwari Singh built the tower in 1749 at the Tripolia Bazaar, in memory of the victory over his step brother. The three-stage tower is also called "Iswari Lat", a reminiscent of minaret. But there is neither a mosque nor a temple nearby.
