Pinacoteca Nazionale

When the French occupied Italy, many churches were dissolved and many art treasures were brought to France. To prevent this, a museum was set up in the former Jesuit monastery of Sant Ignazio. There, the paintings were collected. Through donations, the collection of the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna grew more and more. The wonderful museum displays works by Vitale da Bologna, Raphael, Carracci, Tintoretto Titian and many other famous painters from the Middle Ages to the Enlightenment. The "Pinacoteca Nazionale" is the most important museum in Bologna.
