Vienna Secession

In the Art Nouveau building by Joseph Maria Olbrich there are exhibitions of contemporary art organized by the Vienna Secession Artists Association, founded in 1889. Above the entrance is written in golden letters: Der Zeit ihre Kunst. Der Kunst ihre Freiheit. (Lettime its art. Let art its freedom). The Vienna Secession is independent and run by artists. This independence from state and church allows the Secession to exhibit politically controversial topics.

MuseumsQuartier Vienna

There are many large and famous museums in Vienna. An ensemble in the middle of the city was added in 2001 called the MuseumsQuartier "MQ". Historic buildings were converted into art halls and new modern museums were built on the site of the former court stables. Many cafes and restaurants make the area interesting for relaxing and enjoying. The center of the quarter is the large "Hof 1" square.
