Clube de Fado

Even in Lisbon it's not easy to find a good Fado restaurant that offers good food and good music. One of the best addresses in Lisbon is the Clube de Fado. The restaurant of guitarist Marco Pacheco is an institution that brings together stars such as Woody Allen, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neil Armstrong, Richard Branson, Isabel Allende and the rich and famous of Lisbon. A visit to the Clube de Fado should not be missed, be sure to make a reservation in advance. The main courses cost 30-40 € who comes after 23 clock has good chances even without a reservation to get a table. Then you can just have a drink and enjoy the Fado. Fado does not eat or talk, the audience is silent or it sings along. In the "Clube de Fado" various singers alternate, each singing about 3 songs. After that there is a break in the eaten. A restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. Fado stars like Sandra Correia perform regularly here.

Pastéis de Belém

Pastéis de Belém are the most famous specialty of Lisbon, which has prevailed as "Pastéis de Nata" throughout Portugal. In the Antiga Confeitaria de Belém the first pastéis were made in 1837. The recipe is of course strictly guarded but the difference to the sweet pies of other bakers is low. Nevertheless, it is worth to go to the Antiga Confeitaria de Belém, because the café is simply beautiful and the Pastéis de Belém are still served warm. If the café is full you can wait until a place is free or you take a pack (6 pieces) with you and sit in the park opposite.

Noobai Cafe

For the perfect breakfast, all you need is the perfect weather. At the viewpoint Miradouro de Santa Catarina you can have breakfast in the Cafe Noobai and look out from the large terrace on the Tagus. "Noobai" comes from the Creole meaning "let's go". The three terraces of the Noobai are also suitable for a sundowner. Start the day here or end it. A very nice place over the roofs of Lisbon.

Time Out Market Lisbon

In the old market hall Mercado da Ribeira is now the "Time Out Market Lisbon". There are many small take-away stalls in the big hall where you can get everything you need to eat. From typical Lisbon dishes to sushi and pizza. It's just a bit of a "food court" in a mall just bigger and more elegant. The prices are also a bit higher. You stand at the shop you want, order and wait until it's done. The Time Out Market has many interesting restaurants and there is something for every taste.

A Mourisca

A Mourisca is a typical Lisbon restaurant. There is traditional home cooking with soups and simple fish and meat dishes. The decor is old-fashioned and countless Benfica scarves hanging from the ceiling. Neither the furnishings nor the prices have been adapted to tourists so far. Nearby is the Miradouro da Graça lookout with the church of the same name.

Ginjinha

A specialty of Lisbon is "Ginjinha", a sour cherry liqueur that is sold in a small bar on the Largo de São Domingos. You stand up and get a shot glass with cherry liqueur for little money that tastes like Mon Chéri. There are always a lot of people standing in front of the small bar and the floor in front of the Ginjinha bar is quite sticky. It is quite sociable and the liquor lifts the mood.

Bistro 100 Maneiras

Bistro 100 Maneiras is a restaurant of Ljubomir Stanisic who fled Yugoslavia in 1997 to become one of the best chefs in Portugal. "100 Maneiras" means 100 ways and points out the creativity of the ingenious cook, who prepares even the simplest dish again and again in a different way. But the Bistro 100 Maneiras is not just about taste, it's also about the special way to present the food. The restaurant is always good for a surprise.

Ponto Final

On the opposite side of the Tagus, there is a waterfront restaurant overlooking the Ponte de 25 Abril and the Panoramo of Lisbon. The Restaurante Ponto Final can be reached by ferry from Cais do Sodré. It takes about 15 minutes by Transtejo ferry to Cacilhas and then runs along the old docks to the restaurant with the yellow tables. In the "Ponto Final" there are many different fish dishes and other seafood to choose from. Good food in a unique place.
