The garden of the Royal Palace is a wonderful blend of Moorish garden art and Spanish elements. A really fantastic place in the middle of the city. Tall palm trees and many fountains make the "Jardines de Alcazar" a cool oasis in midsummer.

The plot of the Garden was a gift from Infanta Maria Luisa Fernanda, the youngest daughter of Ferdinand VII King of Spain to the city of Seville in 1893. The park designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, a French landscape architect who also designed the "Champ de Mars" in Paris, opened in 1911. The Parque de Maria Luisa was extended in 1929 for the Ibero-Amercan Exhibition. One of the most beautiful sculptures in the park is the one for the writer Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, with three young ladies made of white marble.

The Rio Guadalquivir flows through the center of Seville and opens into the Atlantic Ocean near the city of Cadiz. There is a famous sculpture by "Eduardo Chillida" placed on the riverfront for the World Exhibition of 1992.  It is called "Monumento a la Tolerancia".  

Paseo Marques de Contadero

At the "Plaza America" you will find the museums "Pabellon Mudejar" and the "Archaeological Museum". In the middle of the square is a Baroque basin, on the square there are many palm trees and hedges. The shadow effect of the palm trees is low, it can get very hot in summer.
