The "Narodni Muzem" (National Museum) was built by Josef Schulz in 1891. The museum accommodates the prehistoric and early history exhibition of the Czech Republic. The historic building overlooks the Wenceslas Square.
The museum is dedicated to the famous painter "Alfons Mucha". The Mucha Museum shows posters, graphics, photographs and other objects of the great art nouveau artist. Mucha lived from 1860 until 1939 and became famous with posters for theaters.

The "Lipidarium" belongs to the National Museums (Národní Muzeum) and shows in its permanent exhibition the history of stoneworking and mining in Bohemia from the 11th to the 19th century.
The National Gallery was founded in 1796 and has got a very large art collection which is shown in many different buildings. These include St. Agnes Monastery, Salm Palais, Sternberg Palais, Schwarzenberg Palais, Kinsky Palace and the Palace of Trade Fairs.
