The Museum of Applied Arts (Iparmüvészeti Múzeum) in Budapest is a must see, not only because of the excellent exhibitions. The building itself is a work of Hungarian art by Lechner and Pártos architects. The Museum of Applied Arts is a beautiful Art Nouveau building. The details at the entrance are very special, with artfully intertwined, colored ceramic railings. The atrium (photo) with its Moorish style elements is also unique. The neoclassical museum of fine arts Szépmüvészeti Múzeum was built in 1906 by the architects Schickedanz and Herzog. All the big names in European art history are gathered in the famous Art Museum. The museum is divided into the categories Egyptian Collection, Antique Collection, Old Gallery, Old Sculpture Collection, Old Hungarian Collection and Graphic Collection. In the Old Gallery you can find paintings by Raffaello, Tintoretto, Velazquez, Goya, Dürer, Holbein and many more. The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the best museums in Budapest.
The Mücsarnok art hall built in 1896 is also a work of the architect Albert Schikedanz. The light-flooded hall displays contemporary art in temporary exhibitions.

The Terror House Museum (Terror Haza) was opened in 2002 and is dedicated to the history of the victims of National Socialists and the communists. People were held and tortured in this house. The museum shows the terror that people have to suffer under a dictatorship.
