Museum of the Nanyue King

The Nanyue King Museum is very close to the Five Goats Monument. It is one of the top attractions in Guangzhou because the Tomb of the Second Nan Yue King is located on the site. The burial chamber was painted in color and contained valuable art treasures and the famous jade dress in which the Nan Yue king was buried. The jade dress is the death dress of King Zhao Mo, who died in 122 BC. Another significant grave find is the golden seal that designates King Zhao Mo as Emperor Wen.

The Nanyue Kingdom came into being after the collapse of the Qin Dynasty in what is now southern China. The capital was Panyu, which is now the city of Guangzhou. The remains of this city can be seen in Beijing Lu. The Nan Yue Kingdom coexisted with the Western Han Dynasty, hence the name Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King.
