The over 11 km long sandy beach of Palma de Majorca extends from the center of the city to S'Arenal. Here is the notorious Ballermann, where German holidaymakers booze and party. On the opposite side of the bay is Magaluf, the place where British tourist have a drink. Palma Airport is located in the middle of the Bay. Therefore, the hotels on the beach can be reached quickly and the entire coast is densely built up. Since the beach is relatively wide at around 40 m, the space is usually sufficient for the many tourists. The rocky coast begins behind S'Arenal, there are only small bathing bays. The Platja de Palma is the longest and most famous beach in Majorca.
Where formerly the surf struck against the city wall is now the coastal road Autopista de Llevant and the port of Palma de Mallorca. Parallel to the old city fortifications, the Palm Alley "Passeig de Sagrera" and the "Parc de la Mar" were created.
Cala Figuera is a typical bay on the east coast of Majorca. In the rugged coastline, there are many small bays at the end of which is a sandy beach. Further south is Cala Llobards and Cala Santanyi. One of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca is located in the bay of Cala S'marador and Cala Mondrago near Portopedro. This coastal landscape stretches up to Porto Cristo.
The "Playa es Trenc" is the longest natural beach on Majorca. Behind the sandy beach is a dune landscape covered by high bushes. The approximately 5 km long bay is bounded by the places Sa Rapita and Colonia de Sant Jordi. In the bay there is still a small town called Ses Covetes, with a few restaurants. On the beach itself there are "chiringuitos" (Small shops) where you can buy drinks or rent beach chairs and umbrellas. "Es Trenc" is also known as nudist beach, but there is no obligation to be naked. Behind the dunes are salt fields in which sea salt is extracted. The beach of Es Trenc is a nature reserve, the chiringuitos are to be demolished and the parking is limited to 1,500. In the summer, the parking lots are always crowded. You should also take your trash back with you and shake out the towels well, so that as little sand as possible is removed from the beach. Due to the many tourists, the beach has been significantly reduced, because every tourist takes sand in his shoes and towels away.
Paguera is a small town between Palma de Mallorca and Port Andratx. Paguera has a very beautiful crescent-shaped sandy beach. In the village are some hotels but Paguera is not packed with hotels. However, it can get crowded in summer on the beach. Paguera is a German dominated travel destination, but it is not a party location like S'Arenal or the English party resort of Magaluf.
The elegant luxury "Port d'Andratx" is located on a beautiful bay. Large sailing ships moor on the water. In the centre there are upscale shops and boutiques for shopping. At the harbor you can relax in nice cafes. Antratx is also called "Düsseldorf hole" because many Germans live here.
The island of "Sa Dragonera" is located on the western tip of Mallorca. The island is a nature reserve with hiking trails. From Sant Elm and Port d'Andratx you can take a boat to the island. There is a small harbor with a Rangerstation. The name dragon island comes from its silhouette, but there are also many lizards (little dragons) living on the island. Sa Dragonera is 4.2 kilometers long and about 900 meters wide. The highest mountain of the island is 353 m high.
Punta Prima is a small promontory that stands out from the rugged cliffs in the northwest of Mallorca. Punta Prima is remarkable because there is a large hole in the rock. From the Mirador Na Foradada you can see Punta Prima very well. At the Mirador Na Foradada there is a restaurant. Next to the vantage point is the museum "Son Marroig", a beautiful natural stone building by Ludwig Salvador of Austria. The "King of Mallorca" wrote around the year 1900 books about the landscapes of the Mediterranean.
On the steep Mediterranean coast between the towns of Andratx and Sóller there are some very beautiful Lookouts called "Mirador". The best known are "Ricard Roca" with the Restaurant "Es Grau" and "Torre del Verger". The street "Ma 10" winds in narrow bends along the north coast of Majorca. It is the best scenic drive on the island.
The "Sierra de Tramuntana" extends along the Northwest coast of the island. Highest point of the mountain range is the Puig Major with a hight of 1.445 m. In winter it can be very cold up here. The roads are narrow and winding.
