The "San Francisco Museum of Modern Art" shows Art from 1910 until today. In addition to painting, sculptures and photographs, the San Francisco MOMA has a large collection of international media art. The Department of Architecture and Design has an "Apple Macintosh SE" from 1989 on display. The main building was designed by swiss architect Mario Botta. The SF MOMA got an extension building by Snøhetta Architects in 2016.
The "Fine Arts Museum" is located in a copy of the "Palais de la Légion d'Honneur" in Paris from 1924. The collection includes works by Ruben, Rembrandt and El Greco as well as antique art, decorative art and photographs.

The "Yerba Buena Center for the Arts" was founded in 1993 and exhibits a wide range of visual arts, performing arts, film and video art in alternating exhibitions and various events. Check the link for events and locations.
The "California Academy of Sciences" is a natural science museum that imparts knowledge about nature and a understanding of life on earth. The museum at the "Golden Gate Park" was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano.
The "De Young Museum" has one of the best collections of "American Art". The museum has a great collection of paintings and objects from the time before Columbus arrived in America. African and Oceanic art are also part of the exhibition in the futuristic museum by swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron.
The "USS Pampanito" was built in 1943 on the east coast. The Submarine served in the Pacific during the Second World War against Japan. Since 1975 it is a museum in the port of San Francisco.

The city at the "Golden Gate" has some very interesting museums with great architecture. The "De Young Museum" was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the "San Francisco MOMA" was designed by Mario Botta, the extension of the MOMA was built by the Norwegian Snøhetta. The California Academy of Sciences was designed by Renzo Piano.
