The Château and the fortress on the mountain above the city of Nice were conquered and destroyed by King Louis XIV in 1691. Today there is a park with artificial waterfall and magnificent viewpoints on the city and the ocean.

Between Cannes and St. Raphael is one of the most beautiful sections of the "Côte d'Azur". Small, blue shimmering coves with clear water and pine trees reaching the sea, invite you to go hiking and swimming.  

Cap du Dramont

The red rocks of the Massif de l'Esterel rise above the Cap du Dramont. The volcanic mountains are a popular hiking region, the highest mountain is Mont Vinaigre with 614 m. The 492 m high Pic de l'Ours is closer to the sea, between Miramar and le Trayas. At Cap Roux there is a viewpoint from which you have a beautiful view of the red rocks and the blue sea.

At the "Gulf of Frejus" there are long, fine sandy beaches, the most famous is "Frejus-Plage". If you are looking for quiet beaches, you will find some smaller coves, which are not that crowded in the summer between Frejus and Ste. Maxime.
