Museo Nacional de Antropologia

The "Museo Nacional de Antropologia" is one of the best museums in Central America. You will discover important archaeological finds of the Mayan period and earlier civilizations. The ethnographic collections show art and cult objects of the indigenous people of Mexico. The main attraction of the museum is the "Sacrifice stone of the Fifth Sun". 

Museo Rufino Tamayo

The "Museo Rufino Tamayo" shows modern art. In the concrete building of the architects Zabludovsky and Gonzalez, works by Dali, Bacon, Picasso, Miro and of course Rufino Tamayo are on display. 

Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico

The "Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico" presents the urban history of the Mexican capital. The museum is housed in a former colonial town palace with a covered courtyard. The museum also shows impressionist painting by Joaquin Clausell. 

Museo Nacional de Arte

The "National Art Museum of Mexico" resides in the former "Palacio de Communicaciones" in the historic center of Mexico City. In the sumptuous rooms works of Mexican artists are on display, starting with the colonization by the Spaniards.  

Museo National de Historia

The "Museo National de Historia" is located in the former palace of Maximilian von Habsburg. The view from the "Castillo de Chapultepec" is worth a visit to the National History Museum. Exhibits include flags, furniture and historical paintings. 

Museo Casa de Leon Trotsky

Leon Trotsky was a socialist revolutionary and military commander of the Russian October Revolution. When Stalin "cleaned" the party, Trotsky fled to Mexico City in 1936. Here he was murdered in 1940 by an russian agent. The museum is located in his former residential building. 

Estudio Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo

The studio of Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo became a museum of the famous artists. You can see photos, letters and pictures in the rooms where the great works of art were created. The studio is an architecturally interesting building by Juan O'Gorman from 1931. 

Museo Franz Mayer

The German-Mexican businessman "Franz Mayer" (1882-1975) collected over 9,000 Mexican art objects and bequeathed them to the state. The museum displays these objects in a beautiful historic building from the 16th century.  

Museo Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo is one of the most famous female artists in the world. Frida Kahlo, who died in 1954, was the wife of Diego Rivera and a very special personality as you can see in the blue museum.
